Children & Young People Services
We offer a range of support for people aged 5+, including Wellbeing Mentors, parent and child support, group sessions and specialist counselling services. Support can be accessed through referral either through school, a parent or by the individual.

What can we offer?
CYP Support
CYP (Children & Young People) Specialist Support is a NHS partnership specialist response service, between SECE Mind, Kids Inspire and Thurrock Open Door, offering a range of intervention and therapeutic support for those aged 4-18 to help teach about the brain; why they feel the way they do and how to change it.
Support is offered mostly via online platforms, such as Zoom and MS Teams or via telephone. We teach tools such as mindfulness, grounding exercises and breathing techniques and tips to manage anxiety, stress and overwhelm.
Referrals can be submitted through school via email or online by a parent or child over 16. To apply, please download and complete a referral form above and email to hello@secemind.org.uk
Support To Thrive
Support To Thrive is for senior school aged people who might be at risk with regards to their emotional wellbeing. They will work alongside a trained and experienced Wellbeing Mentor with the aim to improve their wellbeing and stay in education. This is done through setting and working on personal goals together, teaching coping techniques and helping to better understand the brain, feelings and behaviours. Youthful Wellbeing
Youthful Wellbeing is similar to Support To Thrive, with the aim of helping to keep a person in vocation and educational activities such as work, volunteering or education whilst supporting their wellbeing through 1-2-1 work with a Wellbeing Mentor. This service is accessible to those up to the aged 18-25 and can be accessed by an individual through our referral form below.

Adam*
Adam is 14 years old. He has had anger and behavioural issues since he was 9 and has been losing his temper and experiencing low mood and anxiety at secondary school.
During the lockdown period his anxiety and “impulse control” worsened. He became anxious about leaving the house, scared of getting the virus and isolated himself.
Adam was referred to our CYP group sessions. Although nervous at first, he soon began contributing and undertaking home practice each week. After the sessions were complete he felt he was ready to “go it alone”.

Aadijay*
Aadijay is 12. His parents say he is a bright but puts a lot of pressure on himself. He has struggled with the transition to secondary school, getting angry and frustrated when he cannot achieve the high standards he sets himself. Lockdown and having time away from school have escalated his anxiety and he experienced distress and bad anxiety attacks when asked to attend.
Aadijay attended weekly CYP sessions and was enthusiastic about learning how the brain works and mindful techniques such as grounding and breathing exercises. After a month of sessions, Aadijay felt he had enough tools to continue his practice alone.
